Founded in 2016 by Mr. Balram Jairaj, Southern Star Hotels have come a long way from its beginnings at the lively & vibrant Lavelle Road, Bangalore property. When Mr. Balram Jairaj first started out, his passion for hospitality, great food & service with contemporary room standards drove the entire team to study its competitors and differentiate its own offerings by providing a superior experience to its customers. We now serve customers all over Karnataka – in Bangalore, Mysore, Davangere and Belgaum.

Managing Director

Balram Jairaj is a Young Businessman & entrepreneur. He co-founded a mobile parking app- Plonk, before entering the hospitality industry as a Director at Southern Star Hotels. After completing his schooling in Bangalore, he graduated from Bentley University (Boston, USA) with a major in Economics and a minor in Political Studies.

His vision and strategy have enabled and guided Southern Star to expand and reach new heights. He has a reputation for persistently pushing the Southern Star brand forward in the mid-market & luxury hotels segments, alongside various restaurants brands like Rice bowl, Zest, Spice, Bazaar Treetops, Isfahan etc. He has inspired his team and in a short span of time, has built a team that is able to thrive in the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry. He has played a key role in reviving the Southern Star brand and its successful operation in seven locations across Karnataka.

Cluster General Manager

Bidya Sagar Boruah, an accomplished professional with a Hotel Management degree, boasts an impressive career spanning over 20 years, during which he has excelled with renowned brands in the hospitality industry. His extensive experience includes strategic collaborations with major online travel platforms, showcasing his adeptness in meeting diverse client expectations across varying hotel tiers. Bidya is well-versed in the intricacies of Hotel Operations, Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Branding, Positioning, Business Scaling, Budgeting, P&L Analysis, MIS Reporting, Upselling, Cross-selling, Competitive Market Analysis, SWOT Assessment, Balance Sheet Evaluation, and optimizing the use of cash flow. Additionally, he demonstrates a keen understanding of cutting-edge technologies relevant to the hospitality sector.

As a forward-thinking professional, Bidya Sagar Boruah has consistently proven his ability to navigate the dynamic landscape of the hospitality industry, making him an ideal candidate for the role of Cluster General Manager at a hotel chain's headquarters. His comprehensive skill set, coupled with a profound understanding of industry trends and client needs, positions him as a valuable asset to drive success and innovation in hotel management at the highest level.

Business Finance Manager

Southern Star has brought on board Abhijit Nayak as a Manager, Business Finance Manager. In this role, he will be targeting in assisting hotel owners, investors and operators in achieving superior performance results with a focus on optimal returns.

He will be working along with the corporate management of seasoned hospitality professionals of the Southern Star Hotels who are equipped with the proficiency to guide hotel operations mitigating risk and aligning the interests of hotel owners and operators alike. He will also be involved to help the corporate management in owner representation, asset analysis and operating budget reviews. Thus, he will aim to serves as a key component in maximising asset potential and value along with aligning interests of hotel owners, brands and investors.

Chief Engineer

Mallikarjun Biradar is an Engineering professional having 21 years of extensive hotel pre-opening and Engineering planning expertise. Has been associated with a leading brand like BPL, Sharavati Hydro-electric Project.
He has decreased expenses year on year successful with proper preventive maintenance & planning, Handling Southernstar Group Engineering planning, leveraging best practices and achieving superior service standards through continuous improvement and innovation.
